Makes 36 cookies
1) Combine flour, sugar, soda and salt in a small mixing bowl.
2) Cut in shortening and peanut butter until particles are fine, using a low speed on mixer.
3) Blend in corn syrup.
4) Shape into a 2-inch roll.
5) Wrap in waxed paper; chill.
6) Slice 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick, using thin, sharp knife.
7) Place half the slices on ungreased cookie sheet.
8) Place 1/2 tsp peanut butter in center of each.
9) Top with remaining slices: seal edges with fork, if desired.
10) Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned on edges.
